This region is famous for its cattle and farms. Many highlanders come to the coast looking for an extra income and work during the harvest season in the lower lands. High relieve carved hair, a strange cross in his forehead, painted moustaches and a double chin beard give the piece a serious look. Notice the thick eyebrows, black painted eyelashes that highlight the looks of this hard working cattleman. Two golden painted teeth frame the friendly smile on the character’s face. The backside of the piece shows the hardness of the wood smoothened by the constant use during the ceremonies and the Morería brandings “D L”. This Vaquero or Cowboy appears in the “Baile Convite”, a disguises parade.
