Ceremonial Conquistador Mask used during the Dance of the Conquest. This character represents a Spanish General. This character represents Pedro de Alvarado, the main Guatemalan Conquistador. He was nicknamed “Tonatiuh” by the Mayas, that means “the Son of the Sun”, since he was so blond. During the Dance, he will fight against the Mayan Warriors. Blond hair, beard, sideburns and moustaches are nicely carved. Notice the gracefully golden painted eyebrows and painted eyelashes that highlight the beautiful glass eyes. Sunburned cheeks, ears, forehead and nose represented with red stripes denote the European origin of the character. Patina on the back denotes use. Please notice that the price includes FREE USPS Shipping.
