This character represents a cowboy from the Pacific Coast. This region is famous for its cattle and farms. Many highlanders come to the coast looking for an extra income and work during the harvest season in the lower lands. Painted hairs with a low relieve curl; moustaches and beard give the piece a serious look. Notice the thick eyebrows, brown glass eyes and tiny eyelashes that highlight the looks of this hard working cattleman. Notice the big round nose, blushing cheeks and his smiling mouth that give the piece a joyful and friendly look. The backside of the piece shows the hardness of the wood smoothened by the constant use during the ceremonies. This Vaquero or Cowboy appears in the “Baile Convite”, a disguises parade.
