A beautiful two panelled Huipil woven on a back strap loom with 4 selvedge ends. San Juan Sacatepequez has several common coloured stripes on the warp of the blouse: (purple, red, yellow and brown).  Each of the panels is nicely brocaded with different patterns over the shoulder part (turkeys, birds, feather serpent and stars). The round neckline is cut out and finely hand embroidered on top using cotton. The narrow hand embroidered randa joins both panels with cotton and silk.  All the colours are chemical dyes but the light brown on some of the warp stripes is the natural hand spun brown cotton called “Cuyuscate”.
